Dr. Sommers or "Mr. Marlin" has been trained in carpentry and philosophy (PHd University of Tennessee Knoxville.) In addition to Starr Mountain Academy he serves with Anabaptist Perspectives. Marlin and his wife Meredith and thier 5 children are part of Wellspring Mennonite church in Athens, TN.

Rachael Yoder grew up in northern Indiana where she was homeschooled alongside her 3 siblings. She now loves living in TN, being ‘Miss Rachael’ to the little ones, and watching their excitement while learning. In her free time you’ll likely find her traveling, working on a crochet project, or hanging out with friends.

Vaschel Miller was born and raised near Athens, TN. She has spent the past two years studying at Faith Builders Training Institute in Guys Mills, PA in a general studies program and hopes to finish out a degree at a local university in the next several years. She loves children, animals, music, learning, and the sound of rain.

Alyssa Blevins is the eldest of a large homeschool family and has long had a deep love for learning and for sharing that knowledge with others. She graduated with honors at the age of sixteen, with particular strengths in mathematics, music, and church history.

Miss Blevins cares not only about teaching academic subjects, but also about cultivating diligence, excellence, and a strong work ethic in her students. Her goal is to encourage each student to pursue their work with purpose and to develop skills that will serve them well in all areas of life.
